About Chelsea Building Society
Chelsea Building Society’s establishment goes back to 1875.
It was at the same time that the Camberwell and South London Building Society were formed and three years later, in 1878, the Borough of Chelsea Permanent Building Society was created.
These societies amalgamated with other smaller societies and in 1966 the two societies merged to form a new credit union society with assets of £36 million.
Chelsea had grown its assets to in excess of £14 billion in 2009. It is now the country’s fifth largest building society. We have 35 branch offices mainly in southern England and we offer fixed rate to offset, from remortgages to guidance on buying your first home.
